Panel discussion w/ moderator Maria Lyngstad Willassen
Over the past decades numerous artist-run exhibition spaces have been established across Norway and Europe, initiated with a desire for financial, geographical and technical flexibility. These spaces have rapidly become recognised as important arenas for displaying young contemporary art, as the independent and dynamic aspect has proven successful with artists as well as audiences. Have these new platforms for art changed the way todays artists produce their work?
Per Gunnar Eeg-Tverbakk has first hand experience with initiating and managing artist-run galleries, as well as an extensive overview of the development of the Norwegian art scene from the 90s until the present. He will through his talk look at the dynamics between the institution, the artist and the audience.
Randi Grov Berger will further give us an insight into the artist-run space Entrée’s many projects and tell us about how she has established an the well-recognised exhibition space in central Bergen, which can celebrate its ten-year anniversary next year.
Vilde Salhus Røed will specifically talk about three exhibitions at three different Norwegian artist-run exhibition spaces. She will go into the different practical conditions at these venues that necessarily affect the artistic process, production and their economy.
The talks are held in Norwegian.
